Snenhlanhla ”Mfeka” Mfeka

Popzile is a South African Kwaito artist from Umlazi, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Born Snenhlanhla Mfeka on 5 March 1992, he brings authentic township influences to his music and creative work.

Popzile started his journey in the entertainment industry as a dancer, where he was trained and mentored by the late Sifiso “Mapele” Richmond and Ayanda “Mdameshi” Richmond, founding members of the renowned dance group Ama Groovies. He went on to perform as a background dancer for artists including DJ Bhudda, DJ Chynaman, Kwaito artist Pilado, and gospel singer Hlengiwe Mhlaba.

Before pursuing his career as a musician, Popzile spent much of his time at Umlazi Kulture Recording Studio, developing his craft as a songwriter and recording music with studio owner Mthokozisi Sibiya. He was also previously a member of Quiver no Popzile, a short-lived music duo from Umlazi.

In 2022, Popzile released his Kwaito single “Baz’gcwala”. His debut dance album, School of Nuz, features talented artists including Quiver, Nathie, Syanda Mculo and Nocky Lu Cocoa.

The title School of Nuz is inspired by Popzile’s life experiences growing up in Umlazi. Each song on the album reflects a different part of that journey, capturing the people, culture, experiences and energy that shaped him.
